pht_edithreasons.jpg TC: Where were you born and where did you grow up?

I was born in Waidhofen/Thaya and grew up in Innsbruck, both in Austria.

TC: How and why did you want to become a triathlete?

I actually never though of it until a friend asked me to sign up to do a sprint tri.

TC: What started you on the tri- kick?

We did the Tin Man Triathlon in San Bernardino last year.  It was fun, and I thought I could do that.

TC: How many triathlons have you competed in?

One sprint and one international.

TC: What were your feelings going into that first Triathlon?

I wasn't sure about the sprint tri -- I was sort of in shape and thought I might be able to do . I used to be a good swimmer in my youth but had only been floating in the pool for many years now, and  the same with running -- I used to, but not in 40 or so years.  I figures, I just "wing" it.

TC: What event is your strongest? Your weakest? And your favorite?

Biking -- swimming is my weakest --  biking is my favorite.

TC: What are you goals in the sport of triathlon?

It's a real, real long shot -- but would like try to finish at least one ironman

TC: How has your health/fitness changed through triathlon

I used to be almost 50 lb chubbier before when I started biking.

TC: Before you were a triathlete, you did something else that filled the time that you now put into training. What was it?

Biking.

TC: What kind of jobs have you held and which was your least favorite?

While I was still in school I worked as a bank teller, after school I started working for an attorney, before I met my husband and moved to the US, I worked in the news office of the ORF (Austrian Radio Station).  When I first started working in the US, I thought it would be fun working in a clothing store.  I lasted 2 days.  I would say that was my least favorite job.  Now I work for an attorney -- it's just the two of us so I do everything but attorneying.

TC: What would be your best guilt free dinner?

Big salad with everything but the kitchen sink on it.

TC: What gets you pumped up on race day?

The Toyota Desert Tri was my first -- I tried to "pump" myself up but mostly I was petrified of the swim,

TC: What is your favorite activity on non-training rest days?

I like mountain biking and hiking, although, I don't doit often enough.

TC: What is your favorite way to relax and recharge just before the race?

I'm usually busy doing something. I try to eat a bit more than normal and drink a lot of water and then go to bed a little earlier the night before.  But I am too excited to sleep.

TC: Favorite Athlete?

Lance Armstrong (at the moment)

TC: Favorite Food?

Mexican

TC: Favorite Book?

The Stand by Stephen King

TC: Favorite Quote/Philosophy?

Those are my principles.  If you don't like them I have others.  Groucho Marx
