Triathlon Connection for 2010 |
|
2009 was a great year for Triathlon Connection (TC)! Our numbers are up which means the news is getting out about TC. We grew as a club on a variety of fronts; in numbers, unity, sponsorship, and socially. Balancing life with the need to group train is difficult but many of you found a way making workouts so much more enjoyable. It’s nice to see so many TC members out and about at ungodly hours or after work when the TV and fridge are so much more tempting. It justifies our collective ambition.
A special 2009 thanks to Coates, Renegade Racing, Bad Ass Coffee, PossAbilities, Redlands / Henry Bush Plumbing, and Stealth Cycling for donating to TC’s bank account making uniforms, team tent, and other team equipment possible. Introducing Asics, Xterra, Rudy Project, and a variety of other partners completed a well rounded list of supporters including Top Speed, Kool-n-Fit and a variety of others.

With each year we learn more and become a better club. In an effort to continue our success and the success of our partners we have two primary changes in 2010. Our first change is the separation of sponsors into two groups; Gold and Silver. Gold is reserved for sponsors donating to TC and providing a discount while Silver is reserved for those providing a discount. This separation will be reflected on our website shortly. Another change in this area is the extension of our loyalty to those sponsors who have demonstrated an interest in win-win partnerships with TC. We say thank you and good by to Ironman Coffee as our loyalty now resides with Bad Ass Coffee. Our single bike shop sponsor will be Coates Cyclery in Pomona. Owner/Operator Corey has treated me and everyone I’ve sent his way very well for the past 15 years. I don’t hear that any of us are utilizing the other bike shops. If you do, please let me know.
Our 2nd area of change is to grow our ability to help others. In 2009 we became a non-profit organization with a mission to grow the support of triathlon and support local charities. Our primary beneficiary to date has been Exceeding Expectation (EE). Our recent Ironman Party raised $400 of which $200 will go to EE. In 2010, we need suggestion as to where we should donate.
Thank you to all TC members for making 2009 memorable. We really look forward to an even better 2010.
-Tony
